Advertiser & Lending Disclosure

We operate a free matching service, not a lender. Lenders and marketing partners in our network may compensate us, and that compensation can affect which nova credit offers you see and in what order.

01

We Are Not a Lender

Our service connects consumers with independent lenders and does not make loans, issue credit decisions, or set rates, fees or terms. Any loan you receive comes from a lender under that lender's own agreement.

We do not broker loans or act as an agent for any lender or borrower, and we do not collect payments or service accounts. Submitting the request form does not create a loan application with us, and no lender is obligated to respond. Lenders decide, at their sole discretion, whether to make an offer, how much to offer, and on what terms.

02

How We Are Compensated

Lenders and marketing partners in our network pay us for the requests, clicks or funded loans that come through our service. Borrowers pay us nothing, and declining every offer costs nothing.

Compensation may be paid when a partner receives your request, when you click a link to an offer, or when a lender funds a loan. The amount varies by partner and by product.

03

How Compensation May Affect Offers

Partner compensation may influence which lenders receive your request, which offers appear, and the order in which they appear. It does not change the APR, fees or terms a lender quotes you.

Our network does not include every lender or every loan product available in the market. A lender that pays more is not necessarily the lowest-cost choice for you, so compare each offer on APR and total repayment. Readers checking nova credits listings should also review options outside our network, such as credit unions and community banks, before deciding. Our editorial content, including guides and the Compare Lenders page, is written independently, and partner payments do not decide what we write.

04

No Fee to Consumers

Using our request form, comparing offers and reading our guides is free. We never ask you to pay a fee to receive an offer, to speed up a request, or to unlock funding.

If anyone claiming to represent us asks for an upfront payment, gift card, wire transfer or cryptocurrency, it is not us. Please report it through our contact page. A lender you choose may charge its own fees, such as an origination fee or a late fee, and those appear in the lender's disclosures before you sign.

05

APR Disclosure

APRs offered by lenders in our network commonly range from about 6% to 35.99%, and some lenders charge more where state law allows. The APR you are offered depends on the lender and your situation.

Factors that typically affect APR include credit history, income, existing debt, the amount and term you request, and your state of residence. Origination fees, if any, often range from about 0% to 10% of the loan amount and are included in the APR. Terms for loans of $500 to $5,000 typically run about 3 to 36 months, and some lenders offer longer terms. Missed or late payments can lead to late fees, collection activity and negative credit reporting, depending on the lender's agreement. The APR and rates guide on our site explains how these factors work together.

06

Representative Example

A representative example shows how one loan might cost out. Your actual APR, payment and total cost will depend on the lender's offer and may be higher or lower.

Loan detailRepresentative example
Amount borrowed$2,000
Term12 months
APR24.99%
Origination feeNone
Estimated monthly paymentAbout $190.08
Estimated total repaidAbout $2,280.94
Estimated total interestAbout $280.94

A longer term lowers the payment but raises total cost. The same $2,000 at 24.99% APR over 24 months is about $106.73 per month and about $2,561.59 in total, an estimate.

07

State Availability

Loan availability, maximum amounts, APR limits, fees and terms vary by state and by lender. Some lenders in our network do not operate in every state, and some states restrict certain loan types entirely.

If no lender in our network serves your state or your requested amount, you may not receive an offer. Minimum age requirements also vary, typically 18, or 19 in Alabama and Nebraska. Lenders apply the rules of your state of residence, not the state where our office is located.

08

Approval and Credit Checks

Submitting a request does not mean you will be approved, and we never promise approval, a specific APR, or a specific funding time. Each lender sets its own criteria and makes its own decision.

Lenders may check your credit with one or more consumer reporting agencies. Many begin with a soft inquiry to prequalify you, which typically does not affect your score, and may perform a hard inquiry before final approval, which can lower a score slightly. Lenders may also verify income, employment, identity and bank account details. If a lender declines your request, it must send you an adverse action notice explaining the main reasons. Funding times, often as soon as the next business day after approval, are estimates set by each lender and your bank.
